Stephen Follows - Follow Stephen

Please take a look across this website for an insight into the world of the Film Industry.

Stephen is a Filmmaker but spends his down time researching and documenting his finds to assist those interested in Film or trying to put their own Productions together. There are many topics across the ice that will be relevant to your study of MS4 Film Industry.

MS4: Film Industry - Gone Too Far!

So last week we watched anther film to round up our Case Studies.
Gone Too Far! (2014) Dir. Destiny Ekaragh Writ. Bola Agbaje

In the model of what we have studied so far you are tasked to analyse this low budget british comedy.
It would be particularly beneficial if you took a look at this from a production point of view. How was it made? Who contributed to production and how? However do not forget that it would also be wise to still consider how this film fits with the theme of masculinity that we have looked at through the other film case studies.

On your blogs and assessed prior to Wednesday 22nd November lesson please!

MS4: Film Industry Case Studies - Film Music

This could be a really useful tool to understand how music is sourced and selected for film. In this Radio 6 interview Film Director Sam Mendes discusses his thought process, selections and importance of music in film.

This may be useful for both Music and Film industry insight.
He discusses the characters and development of narrative in Skyfall from about 28 minutes in and how Adele came to create the Oscar winning theme song.

Listen to it all if you want to have a deeper understanding of how he collaborated with Kanye West on Jarhead.

MS4: Film Industry - Production Cycle

Just a reminder of one of the topics that we discussed in class.

It could be a good idea if you researched further into this topic and maybe applied it to the case studies that we are using for the exams.
Using your blog as an electronic note book may help come revision time.

MS4 - Case Studies: Film Industry

Skyfall vs Kingsman vs Moonlight

After watching these films you were tasked to complete a piece of writing comparing and contrasting all films.

You should discuss the Genre, Narrative, Budget and the success of the films. Please be sure to think around the topics of Representation and pay attention to any aspects of masculinity.

Deadline: Remember Remember Sunday 5th November

BFI London Film Festival 2017- Trip

Some of you were lucky enough to attend the BFI London Film Festival 2017

Where we were lucky enough to watch the film BREATHE prior to its UK release and hear from the Producer of the Film.

The smart ones amongst you would have written an analysis and taken notes to enable you to have a greater understanding of the Industry for MS4 and the film generally.
As ever those in attendance were well behaved and excellent representatives of Coulsdon 6th Form College. Roll on next year!

First term reflection

Well that first term seemed to fly by and was mainly dominated by all thoughts on your Research Investigation coursework.

We had what i hope was a successful trip to the BFI Research Library to enhance your earlier drafts at the coursework.

Most of you hit your deadlines in terms of getting the work in. A lot of the early drafts moved on significantly.

Well done to those of you who put in the extra effort to get the work in to a high standard prior to the deadline.

KEEP IT UP!
